Mitton Hall Wedding Photographer

A couple of months after Lizzi and Alex booked me to be their Mitton Hall wedding photographer, we discovered we shared more of a connection than we first realized. It all started when I posted a running selfie on Instagram while I was back in my hometown of Ulverston, Cumbria. Lizzi slid into my inbox and pointed out that her old house was in the background of my photo, right behind the cow I was posing with! Turns out, she and Alex had lived there for a short while for work. It’s such a small world, isn’t it?

The Wedding Day

Fast forward to the wedding day. I was buzzing with excitement as I arrived at Lizzi’s parents’ home in Wrea Green for bridal prep. As I wandered around taking detail shots, I stumbled upon a beautiful old chair that had the most lovely natural light falling on it. Just as I was getting detail shots of the flowers, perfume etc, Lizzi and her mum, Carole walked in and exchanged the sweetest smiles. I had unknowingly chosen Lizzi’s late granddad’s chair for the shots! How cute?

The ceremony took place at the Church of St. Anne in Westby Mills. If I’m being honest, I usually lean towards civil ceremonies. But this one was a true gem. The priest, who hadn’t officiated a service in 12 years, brought such a heartfelt sincerity to the ceremony. We kept catching each other’s eye and exchanging a cheeky smile.

Mitton Hall

After the confetti toss, we made our way to Mitton Hall, which is one of my favourite wedding venues. Not only is it stunning and has the friendliest staff, but it’s just a short drive from where I live. The day was made even better with the presence of their adorable dog, Indie. He wasn’t there for long since he’s quite the bundle of energy. But I couldn’t resist stealing a few cuddles with him! The weather was incredible too. It was the week in May that felt like summer had arrived early (and then the rain came again a few days later…..). We even got to enjoy Lizzi and Alex’s first dance on the terrace, which was incredible.

It was now time for me to leave. But not before having a slice of pizza from Dough Boy. Definitely a highlight!
