Can you believe 2025 is already in the rearview mirror? It feels like just yesterday we were welcoming the new year with all the excitement and anticipation it brings. This year has been nothing short of amazing, filled with beautiful moments and incredible couples who made every wedding feel like a unique story waiting to be told. Honestly, I can’t express enough how much I appreciate the journey I’ve been on, especially as I celebrated my 9th year as a professional photographer and my 8th year diving into the vibrant world of being a relaxed Lancashire wedding photographer.

Living in the Ribble Valley is such a blessing, with picturesque backdrops and dreamy venues all around me. I often remind myself how fortunate I am to call this area home, surrounded by stunning locations. The heart of Lancashire has been the backdrop for many beautiful ceremonies this year, and I’m thrilled to have spent so much time capturing those special moments here. I did venture a bit further afield, documenting weddings in the breathtaking Lake District and the lively city of Manchester, even though for the first year, I missed out on some spots like Chester, Yorkshire, and Merseyside.

2025 facts

Now, about the names…. I think it’s worth mentioning that Andrew has dominated the groom scene this year! And for the ladies, we had a tie between Rachel and Victoria for the most popular bride names. Such fun little details to keep track of!

I shot weddings for the first time at 8 different venues across the North West, including Didsbury House Hotel twice within a few weeks!

As I look ahead to 2026, I’m really excited about the new venues I get to explore, like Rylands Farm House, Oh Me Oh My, and The Garden at Eden. It’s always exciting to step into new venues and get the creative juices flowing.

The thank yous

A massive shoutout to all the incredible couples who placed their trust in me this year. You made everything so enjoyable and fulfilling! And, of course, my heart goes out to the wonderful suppliers I worked alongside. You guys know how to keep the vibes high and the energy flowing. Lastly, to my family and friends who have been my rock throughout this journey, thank you for your ongoing support. Let’s see what 2026 has in store!

When Will & Clare contacted me, they told me I had shot a friend of Will’s wedding from football. I love getting direct referrals from previous couples. It’s always such a boost. From first speaking to them, I could tell we would hit it off. I mean, how can you not get excited when you’re talking about a summer wedding at Stirk House in Lancashire? And when they mentioned their adorable fox red Labrador, Arlo, would be in attendance, I was over the moon! Being a dog lover myself (I have three mini dachshunds), I’m all about furry friends at weddings.

The Wedding

The day was just filled with little moments that made everyone laugh and smile. I can’t tell you how many times I heard “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” being sung by Clare and her girls to keep those happy tears at bay! It turned into a sort of unofficial anthem for the day. Then, during the civil ceremony, the emotion hit a peak as I saw tears in Will’s Grandma’s eyes while she watched her grandson marry Clare. Just thinking about it still gives me chills!

With the sun shining down, guests enjoyed refreshing drinks and nibbles in the beautiful Stirk House grounds, making the atmosphere even more perfect.

When it came time for couples portraits, Clare and Will had said they were both nervous about being romantic in front of the camera. But honestly, they completely nailed it! They naturally clicked and had such a fun time during the shoot. We laughed together so hard. And let’s not forget about Dave, Stirk House’s own Toastmaster. What a guy! He’s got this incredible energy that matches mine perfectly. We always have the best time.

All The Dancing

As night fell, the dance floor erupted into an epic celebration. Everyone was ready to dance like no one was watching. But I was and they knew it! I’m usually on stealth mode during weddings, but not when it comes to the dance floor. I like to join everyone. I swear the energy in the room was contagious! The whole day felt so alive. There were so many amazing moments during Clare & Will’s day and I can’t wait for more wedding stories just like this one!

Louise and I go way back, having worked together in a photo shop in Ulverston 25 years ago (gosh, that ages us!). We’ve shared many laughs and good times over the years. So when she told me about Bruce, I knew they were a perfect match. When they asked me to be their Abbey House Hotel wedding photographer, I was over the moon.

The Wedding

Their wedding was a blast, with so much laughter and love in the air. It was extra special for me being back in my hometown and seeing familiar faces while capturing beautiful moments for Louise and Bruce. Louise had thought of every little detail, including getting confetti cannons for the kids to join in on the fun. One of them being Bruce’s daughter, Lily.

Bruce’s groomsmen totally surprised him during the evening reception by all getting matching “Lads, Lads, Lads” tattoos on their legs. This was to match Bruce’s real one!! The look on his face when he saw them was priceless – pure shock and then laughter all around. It was such a fun moment. Not only that, but Louise had also prepared some awesome accessories for the dance floor. She had bucket hats and foam glow sticks for everyone to wear and use while dancing the night away. The combination of the tattoos and the fun accessories made for some fantastic photos!

Being a wedding photographer and capturing such a joyful occasion for awesome friends like Louise and Bruce is truly a privilege. I can’t wait for more memorable moments like this in the future. Cheers to love, laughter, and photographing beautiful celebrations!

Jane was absolutely amazing! In the run up to our wedding, she helped us decide what we wanted and was always on hand to offer advice or answer questions. Even ensuring we could get the full day coverage after we changed our minds at the last minute. On the day, she was brilliant, moving around different rooms and locations to make sure we got everything we wanted…. But doing it in a way where you don’t even know she is there half the time. She goes above and beyond to get the perfect shots and the final images are beautiful. We couldn’t have asked for more and they really do help us relive the day. Something that is so important as it goes so fast. The way she captured us, our family and friends is just unreal and we couldn’t be happier. The only problem will be choosing which ones we want to print!
