The Garden at Eden Wedding Photographer | Lauren & Craig’s Cumbrian Farmer Wedding

When Lauren first got in touch with me back in 2024 to ask if I was available as their The Garden at Eden wedding photographer, I knew their day was going to be something special.

Earlier this year, we met up for their pre-wedding shoot at Dean Clough Reservoir in Lancashire. It was one of those afternoons where everything just clicked. We chatted, laughed and got to know each other properly, and I came away thinking, their wedding is going to be banging. Spoiler alert… I wasn’t wrong!

The Planning

As we got to know each other during the planning process, we quickly realised that Lauren and Craig knew several of my cousins through the farming world. It really is a small world! I also discovered that when Lauren and Craig first met, Lauren actually ghosted him! Thankfully, fate had other ideas and they met again several months later at a mutual friend’s wedding. This time things went much better, and the rest is history.

As a Lancashire wedding photographer, I love travelling across the North West. Being a Cumbria wedding photographer for days like this is always a pleasure. There is something so special about countryside weddings, especially when they are rooted in family and farming.

The Wedding Morning

The morning of the wedding started at Lauren’s parents’ farm, just around the corner from the Church, St Thomas’ Church, Selside, where Lauren and the girls got ready. After a beautiful ceremony, Lauren and Craig made their way back to the farm in true farming style. On the back of Lauren’s dad’s beloved vintage tractor, which had been freshly repainted especially for the occasion.

It was really important to Lauren that we captured some portraits on the farm, somewhere that holds so many memories for them. There was one photograph at the top of her list: a picture with her favourite cow! The only problem? She was across the other side of the field. Lauren was worried she wouldn’t recognise her in her wedding dress rather than her usual farmer scruffs! So unfortunately, she decided it was safer not to go ahead.

The Garden at Eden

From there, we headed to The Garden at Eden in Carlisle for the celebrations. Even the vintage tractor made the journey… although this time it travelled on the back of a wagon!

The reception was everything I expected after meeting Lauren and Craig. They had organised a brilliant singer to entertain guests, everyone was in stitches trying to hook Craig’s mum’s hat out of the pond using Grandad’s walking stick, and Lauren’s dad happily gave tractor rides to anyone who wanted one. Including me, Graham (the videographer) and my second photographer, Gosia! We may have also got involved with the children’s chant of, “Round the lake!”.

As a The Garden at Eden wedding photographer, this venue is an absolute dream. The beautiful grounds, stunning light and relaxed atmosphere create the perfect backdrop for natural, fun wedding photography.

This wedding was everything a farmer wedding should be; relaxed, full of laughter and packed with personality. Everyone was so welcoming, the weather was incredible, and it was one of those days where I genuinely felt like I was spending time with friends rather than clients.

This is exactly why I love being a Lancashire wedding photographer and a Cumbria wedding photographer. From tractors and favourite cows to unforgettable celebrations, Lauren and Craig’s wedding was a day I’ll be smiling about for a long time.
