The Couple
When Josh and Emily contacted me to be their Cockley Wood wedding photographer, I was made up as they both sounded so much fun! They first met in 2015 when working for Grumpy Mule (a coffee roastery). They only knew each other to say hello to. But then…. they bumped into each other on a night out in a rock bar! They were shocked that they both enjoyed everything alternative! They only knew each other in a formal capacity until then.
Planning (& Emily)
Emily and Josh had actually booked someone to be their Cockley Wood wedding photographer. But that photographer had to pull out. So I was only booked 7 weeks before their big day! With me being based in Lancashire and them being based in Yorkshire, we had only chatted via email and Instagram.
Emily cracks me up. She told me several times “how chill’ she was. Yet her wedding questionnaire was the most detailed document I have ever seen. This is something that we both still laugh about months and months after their wedding day. Despite her complicated paperwork, they actually were both 100% chilled on the day.
Cockley Wood Wedding
Emily and Josh’s day was amazing, colourful and super chilled. Like I said, they are an alternative couple so they wedding outfits and accessories didn’t come as a surprise. Emily’s flower crown was so pretty and it matched Josh’s jacket perfectly! They had opted to have a Kerrie, a celebrant conduct their ceremony. This way, it was really relaxed and they could even do shots whilst getting hitched (they also had shots just before too)!
They were joined by their two Beagles, Pig and Bauer. Being a massive dog lover, I just had to have several cuddles with them. They joined the newlyweds for some photographs in the woods and also greeted the wedding guests. They went down a storm.
Before they actually got married, they asked me if they had to behave during portraits or could they just be themselves. I said to them that getting their personalties out is a must! What I didn’t expect was for Josh to jump on Emily’s back for a piggy back through the woods! I almost missed the shot though as I was crippled with laughter.
Food and drink is very important to these guys and I was well fed – happy Jane! There was a grazing table, pizza oven, dairy free ice cream and of course, fresh coffee from Grumpy Mule!
I would absolutely love to be a Cockley Wood wedding photographer again in the future. Especially if it is as fun as this one.
Jane x
Where to even start?! After a last minute cancellation from an alternate photographer, Jane saved the day with only 7 weeks to go. A stressful situation at the time but one of the best things to happen.
My husband and I aren’t posey people. We wanted to show our humour, character and love for each other as well as our friends and family. Jane captured our day so so perfectly. Jane was amazing at positioning us, suggesting funny and loving poses and ideas.
We loved every second with Jane, laughing, interactive with our dogs and guests. The feedback from our guests on Jane’s personality and work was absolutely incredible.Jane, we can never thank you enough for creating such beautiful photos and capturing so many amazing memories. We’ve just about stopped crying at the incredible shots. See you for our 5 year anniversary?!
In summary, if you want someone who’s interactive, passionate, fun, lighthearted but will work their backside off for you on your special day, she’s your gal.
