Festival Wedding
This gorgeous couple share a passion of everything outdoors! They own horses and dogs. So having a Lancashire festival wedding on the farm where they keep the horses seemed to be the perfect idea. That way, the dogs and Splash, the horse could make an appearance for photographs.
Getting Together
Briony & George have very different versions of their getting together story. Briony tells people they met via a mutual friend whereas George says they met on Plenty of Fish (the dating app). In truth, they are both right. A mutual friend had introduced them to each other and then George followed it up by messaging her on the app. Briony still prefers her version all this time later. 3 years later, George had arranged a surprise party at The Crown & Thistle in Darwen and here is where he proposed to Briony in front of everyone! Luckily, she said yes!
Pre Wedding Shoot
5 weeks before Briony & George’s wedding, we met at Marles Wood, Dinkeley for a pre wedding shoot. They brought along Meg and Lottie, their black Labradors. Being an owner of 4 dogs, I absolutely love it when couples bring their dogs along. George and Briony had warned me that they hate having their photograph taken. I explained that I knew where they were coming from because even though I am a Lancashire wedding photographer, I don’t like having my photo taken either. I also reminded them that they are a gorgeous couple! Anyway, we walked a short way, chatted and played with the dogs. Before too long, they both settled down and were really relaxed around my camera. We had chosen the perfect evening for a walk. It was warm, but not too hot and the sun started to set on our way back to our cars.
Festival Wedding Day
After having to postpone their wedding in 2020, Briony & George’s wedding day was finally here! Briony and her bridal party stayed over at The Millstone, Mellor. I met them there for bridal preparation. Everyone was really calm but excited for what was ahead! George and the groomsmen got ready and met at The Butlers Arms, Pleasington for drinks before the ceremony. The pub is literally a stones throw away from Pleasington Priory so it was the perfect meeting point.
A beautiful wedding ceremony later and the couple were now Mr & Mrs! The tipi was only a short drive away in Blackburn. It was an absolutely stunning setup; perfect for a Lancashire festival wedding! There were loads of details and I LOVE that! There were straw bales to sit on, gorgeous floral details, ribbons, a camp fire, a clay cake topper with the couple, Splash the horse and Meg and Lottie (the dogs). After Splash, Meg and Lottie left after their photo shoot with the newlyweds, we took a short walk for some beautiful portraits. The farmer came along on his tractor with a trailer of sheep. True hilarious style, we stopped him and asked if Briony and George could jump in the cab for some pictures. It was so funny and I am so glad we did it as the pictures really showed off their personalities to a tee!
Party Time!
Back at the tipi, the BBQ was cooking and it smelt amazing! Ryan, the host ran a series of games. All the guests were really up for it and got involved. In fact, the whole wedding was full on. Where ever I looked, there was always something going on; drinking, laughing, dancing, kids playing huge garden games, there was a wedding painter and also a caricature artist. Then, Dough Boy arrived to make fresh pizzas!!
Briony & George chose Donna Lewis – I Love You Always Forever as their first dance. Ryan was DJing and Callum was playing the Sax. It was epic!! The dance floor was incredible. So many people were on there and everyone was loving it.
I love a wedding with a difference. If you are having a Lancashire festival wedding (or anywhere else, actually), drop me a message to discuss!
